The Board provides leadership and direction and is responsible for ensuring that the organisation operates efficiently and effectively, and importantly, safely. The Board has established a Board Safety Committee to support the Board in monitoring how the organisation manages safety, its current safety performance and future safety risk profile.
The Board Safety Committee has the following Terms of Reference:

Objective #3: Identify Service Safety Improvements | Review status and advise on the long term strategic safety improvement actions. |
Objective #4: Control Changes to Services | Monitor status of major change programmes. |
Objective #5: Supporting Organisation and Culture | Monitor leadership performance of Accountable Executive and Safety Manger in line with accountabilities. |
Monitor results and improvements as a result of safety culture climate survey. | |
Monitor performance and effectiveness of SMS implementation within the organisation. | |
Review status of SMS improvement activities. | |
Initiate or endorse safety promotion and communication initiatives. | |
Objective #6: SMS Documentation and Record-keeping | Review impact on SMS as a result of any planned changes to international standards, national regulatory requirements. |
The Board Safety Committee membership includes a sub-set of Board members and the organisations Accountable Executive. An Independent Safety Adviser, with recognised safety management experience within aviation or a related industry, is also elected to the Board Safety Committee.
