The Safety Manager is the designated individual within the organisation responsible for providing independent assurance to the Accountable Executive on safety matters including ensuring the that an effective SMS is in place within the organisation.

The Safety Manager role is not responsible for producing any deliverables directly. Within their role they may be responsible for endorsing specific safety deliverables. In the context of the organisations management system Endorse is defined as confirming that the conclusions described in the document is based on a reasonable application of the SMS process.
