The objectives of this process is to ensure that those managers holding safety accountability are aware of those accountabilities and understand how to discharge them. The process shall also ensure any changes to the safety accountability chain will also be assessed and appropriately managed.
The scope of this process covers the formally designated positions (i.e. Accountable Executive, Safety Manager, Designated Post-Holders) and other senior managers who hold specific leadership roles that contribute, directly or in-directly, to the delivery of safe services within the business. All managers with safety accountabilities are referred to as Accountable Managers apart from Designated Post-Holders who may have additional functional accountability in addition to their general SMS accountabilities.
This process is triggered by either an Organisational Change Proposal or by the need to conduct an Annual Review.
